Established in April 1954, Takoradi Technical University (TTU) aim is to become the preferred technical university in engineering and applied sciences in Ghana and in support of this goal moved its largest faculty from its spatially challenged Effia Kuma Campus to Atatakyi, Takoradi. TTU simply outgrew its Effia Kuma Campus to accommodate its growing ~9000 students. In September 2015, as part of its Master Plan TTU began an 18 month construction project to build the lecture halls and classrooms.
